Common uses and pictures of findings.Charlotte End: A small clam shape end for hiding the completed ends of necklaces, bracelets, earrings and tassles. You crimp inside the two sides of the charlotte end and then they cover over the end. The hook or eye then attaches onto the clasp or earring wire.
Jump Rings: Metal rings that connect parts of jewellery to other parts. They can either have a join or be soldered. They are available in a wide range of sizes and gauges of wire in either gold plated, silver plate or sterling silver.
Toggle Clasps: Commonly made of pewter they are a ring shape peice of metal and a bar shape peice. The bar is then threaded through the ring, quite often by turning it sidewards so that when its sitting horizontal its not able to pass back through the round peice. Most modern toggle clasps have more detail than the earlier ones that were available on the market. Toggle clasps are the most popular variety of clasp for necklaces and bracelets.
Magnetic Clasps: Clasps that use a simple magnet to hold the piece together. They are available in a wide variety of styles, from the simple barrel shape to the foldover clasps with a hinge and space for multiple strands to be attached. The simple rule with magnetic clasps is the more that you have paid the stronger the magnet inside will be. I would recommend avoiding using barrel magnetic clasps with heavy necklaces as sometimes they come apart.
Trailer & Hitch Clasps: A clasp that consists of a t bar ball section and a ring donut type section. The two click together to attach the clasp together. These are sometimes called button clasps and are quite easy to do up yourself.

Thonging Ends: A 'U' shape end that has 2 sides and the loop at the end. You need to place the suede or mesh into the middle and then press the sides over. With these it is best to gradually press either side onto the middle, and then finally press the completed thonging end with chain nose pliers. Available in a a variety of sizes for different shape ends.
Crimps: A small piece of metal that can be squashed to attach strands together. Available in a variety of sizes, the 2mm size you can thread through a number of strands, but the larger sizes you may be able to pass through many more strands.
Hook & Eye Clasps: A clasp that consists of a hook shape peice of metal and a eye or open round. The two sides are just attached together to attach the necklace together.
Kilt Pin: A large wire pin with a number of loops soldered onto the bottom, in which you can attach chain, charms or anything you fancy.

Available in a wide variety of styles, with a loop at the bottom in which you can attach whatever beading you would like in the body of the earring.
Continental Earring Wires: Hinged earring wires that are pear in shape, that have a locking mechanism. They are a really popular earring wire as they don't fall out.
Hinged Earring Wires: Earring wires with a hinge at the back so that they don't fall out. They are also quite stylish coming in a variety of styles, with loops and designs above the loops. We also stock a variety with a 5mm swarovski crystal stone above.
Earring Studs: A earring post with a small round ball with a ring onto a stick, and a earring nut. Available in a plain style, filigree and also with a swarovski crystal.
Clip On Earrings: Earring components with clip on sections with types of attachments, such as sieves and loops.
Lobster Clasp: A clasp consisting of a pear shaped piece of metal with a loop and a tab that opens the side up once pulled. The new types have a swivel base, so that when you put it on the bracelet or necklace, you can swivel it around so that it can attach to the extension chain.
Slide Clasp: A tube clasp with loops on either side, that slide onto each other so that it can be attached to a bracelet or necklace. They have varying numbers of loops attached onto each side.
Chandelier Earring Component: A metal filigree peice with one loop that can be attached to an ear wire and a multiple amount of loops on the bottom, so that you can attach varying amounts of beads, quite often in a teardrop or round shape. Available in varying sizes.
Cha-Cha Bracelet: Expandable metal bracelet with links that have loops on one side. For creating charm bracelets, you can attach the beads onto each of the loops.
Hairstick: A long metal stick, that has either a cone at the end or a piece of chain, that you can attach the beads onto the end.
Headpins: A metal peice of wire with ahead pin shape at the end similar to that of a nail. When beads are threaded onto the headpins, you generally can't see the visible pin shape, but these are also available in different shapes that are visible for decoration. Commonly used for creating drops on necklaces, charm bracelets and really anything that doesn't need two sides to be connected together.
Eyepins: A piece of metal that has a eye on one end. Most commonly used for threading beads onto the piece and then creating a loop on the other side. This loop will attach onto different segments of chain, or onto other eyepins or headpins.
Daisy Spacer: A metal spacer that consists of a metal ring with dots around all the sides. Available in a variety of sizes in different metal types, but the pewter daisy spacers are the most intricate and consistent for quality.
Strand End Clasp: An end clasp component that has one loop on one side and then a varying amount of holes on the other side. Used for reducing the amount of strands to connect the clasp, and to make the peices look neat.
Curved Tubes: Metal curved tubes that can be used to cover peices of tigertail or more commonly memory wire. A great way to cover pieces and minimize the amount of crystals or beads used in a project.
Memory Wire Ends: Round end shape beads that are glued onto the end of memory wire to finish bracelets and earrings. They appear like normal round beads, but are half drilled, so that the wire can be glued inside. |
