Techniques In Focus

Vintage Redux

Revitalizing old labels, product names and vintage components in jewellery is a simple yet effective way to give your jewellery a point of difference.

Our vintage decatur necklace uses a combination of modern swarovski crystal cuts perfectly complimented with an old world 2 strand vintage decatur bead.

This technique is illustrated in our:

Clustering Beads

Taking a small segment of chain - about 2cm, attach onto the piece multiple headpins that have been turned over. Attach other beads into the cracks, filling it up so that when you move the piece the beads have no movement.

It’s always a good idea to anchor the piece of chain first, so that you have a bead/charm to hold on to.

This technique is illustrated in our:

Multi-layering Tigertail

Thread on the main focal bead, a crystal and then a crimp. Before squashing the crimp insert two pieces of tigertail into the crimp and part of the crystal, so that 3 strands appear from the end.

Thread on a crystal onto the two side tigertail pieces and repeat, so it has the look of a multi-layered tigertail bracelet. This will make your designs neat and create interest in different areas.

This technique is illustrated in our:

Multi-stranding Memory Wire

Taking multiple coils of memory wire cut into separate coils. Combine multiple strand beads with various double strand beads to create a gorgeous cuff bracelet.

This technique is illustrated in our:
